D.C. police said the incident occurred after 3:30 p.m. at 11th and V streets Northwest.

Third District Commander James Boteler said in a news conference Thursday night that the child, who is approximately 4 years old, ran out into the traffic lane and was struck by the driver of a pickup truck. The driver remained on the scene.

The man, Boteler said, “actually jumped out of the vehicle, put the child in his vehicle along with the mother of the child and drove them immediately to an area hospital where the child is receiving treatment.”

The child has serious injuries, including a pelvic injury; but he is “awake, he’s alert. He was talking,” Boteler said.

Police are looking at video and speaking to witnesses to find out why the child ran out.

Fire officials said the blaze occurred around 6:20 p.m. in a two-story apartment building on the corner of Peabody Street Northwest and Fifth Street Northwest in the Brightwood neighborhood.

A spokesperson for DC Fire and EMS said the injured firefighter sustained minor injuries. No other people were injured in the blaze.

The fire has been extinguished and the cause is currently under investigation.

A DC Fire and EMS spokesperson said at least 60 firefighters responded to the scene in the 3200 block of Minnesota Avenue just after midnight. Officials said that they have confirmed 11 displacements since the blaze began.

The fire started on the first floor of the two-story building and spread to the upper floor.

Fire officials said the blaze was brought under control, but not before it caused “significant damage” to the building.

Minnesota Avenue was closed between Randle Circle and G Street Southeast for hours. ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ Traffic reports that the roads reopened just before 5 a.m.

Montgomery County Fire & EMS spokesperson Pete Piringer said the fire happened at the back of a townhouse on Landing Way off Norbeck Road near Maryland Route 200 around 8 p.m.

The fire quickly spread to the adjoining units and caused significant heat damage to nearby townhomes.

Almost 90 firefighters arrived on the scene and quickly controlled the blaze.

Piringer said firefighters also assisted some people out of their homes, but no injuries and rescues were reported.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The single-car crash happened just after midnight in the southbound lane of D.C. 295 near Burroughs Avenue.

The crash investigation closed a portion of D.C. 295 for six hours.

The police said the man was in the car alone and died at the scene.

The police also said there were bullet holes in the side of the car, but a spokesman said the man had no obvious gunshot wounds.

The man’s identity has not been released.

The investigation is continuing.

They identified the victim as Kendrick Phillips, 30, of Southeast D.C.

D.C. police said the four were shot while standing outside on the 600 block of Chesapeake Street, not far from Hendley Elementary School.

Those injured in the shooting — later identified as three men — were “conscious and breathing” when they were treated by emergency crews.

Police say they’re looking for a black sedan with temporary tags and heavily tinted windows.

The car was last seen speeding north on 6th Street Southeast.

Prince George’s County Police say in the 1400 block of Ritchie Road around 8 p.m.

De’Andre Johnson, 15, of Washington, D.C., was taken the hospital where he died.

Two adults were also shot. One has been treated and released from the hospital. The second is in stable condition with what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

One of the adult victims is a store employee.

A preliminary investigation revealed two suspects walked into the convenience store and opened fire before fleeing the scene, police said.

Police say it does not appear to be a robbery attempt or a random incident and investigators are looking into whether any of the individuals in the store were targeted by the shooters.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
