WASHINGTON 鈥斅營t鈥檚 only one month’s worth of data, and it’s based on just 146 residential sales, but Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. says the median price of a house or condo sold in Arlington County, Virginia last month was $590,000, up 14 percent from a year ago.
Across the river in the District, the median selling price in January was $500,500, up 2 percent from January 2015.
Prince George’s County remains the Washington region’s most affordable housing market, but it ranks right behind Arlington County for price increases.
The median selling price in Prince George’s County last month was $240,000, up 12 percent from a year earlier. That is based on a healthy 616 residential sales, 13 percent more properties than sold in Prince George’s County in January 2015.
The median price in Montgomery County was down 4 percent from a year earlier, to $360,000.
Other regional median selling prices and year-over-year changes in January, according to Long & Foster:
- Alexandria: $436,500, down 4 percent
- Fairfax County: $445,000, up 1 percent
- Loudoun County: $439,000, up 6 percent
- Prince William County: $320,000, up 1 percent
- Frederick County: $270,000, down 3 percent
- Charles County: $259,450, unchanged
