TUESDAY EVENING: Lingering showers end
Temperatures: 70s
Winds: North 5-15 mph
Showers will continue tapering off from west to east through the evening as the weather maker responsible for today’s rain gradually pulls away. A few pockets of heavier rain may linger for a time, especially east of I-95, but the overall trend is toward improving conditions. Skies will slowly begin to break, allowing for some clearing and perhaps a few glimmers of sun.
OVERNIGHT: Gradual clearing
Lows: 58-65
Winds: Northwest 5-10 mph
A much quieter night is expected. Clouds continue to decrease with dry conditions developing area-wide. Temperatures will bottom out in the lower 60s inside the Beltway and 50s farther west. With a light northwest wind, it will feel noticeably less humid.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny
Highs: 82-87
Winds: Northwest 5-10 mph
A beautiful early summer day is on tap. Sunshine will dominate after a cool start, and humidity levels remain comfortable. Afternoon temperatures climb into the lower 80s with a light northwest breeze. It will be an excellent day for outdoor activities with no weather concerns expected.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Scattered clouds
Lows: 55-63
Winds: Northwest 3-8 mph
Passing clouds overnight won’t amount to much. The stickiness factor stays in check allowing for optimal sleeping condition with the windows open.
THURSDAY: Partly cloudy
Highs: 85-90
Winds: South 5-10 mph
The warming trend begins in earnest. Sunshine mixes with a few afternoon clouds as temperatures reach the middle to upper 80s. Humidity remains manageable for most of the day, although it will slowly begin to increase by evening. Dry weather is expected.
FRIDAY: Partly sunny with storm chances
Highs: 85-90
Winds: South 5-10 mph
Summer heat and humidity continue to build. High temperatures reach the upper 80s, with a few locations touching 90 degrees. Most of the day remains dry, but increasing moisture ahead of an approaching cold front may trigger a few late afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms. Any storm that develops could produce gusty winds.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy with storms possible
Highs: 80s
Winds: South 5-10 mph
This is the day with the greatest forecast uncertainty. A strong cold front will be moving toward or through the mid-Atlantic, bringing a higher chance for showers and thunderstorms. Exact timing remains unclear, but periods of rain and thunderstorms are possible at almost any point during the day. Temperatures should reach the lower to middle 80s before any storms develop, with humidity remaining elevated. Damaging wind gusts would be the primary concern with any stronger storms.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny and less humid
Highs: upper 80s
Winds: Northwest 5-10 mph
The front should begin moving away from the area, although lingering showers and thunderstorms remain possible, especially during the first half of the day. Conditions should gradually improve later in the afternoon. Temperatures will reach the middle to upper 80s with somewhat lower humidity developing by evening.
