New apartments coming to Old Town Alexandria

WASHINGTON — More than 200 rental apartments will be part of a mixed-used project about three blocks from the Potomac River in Old Town Alexandria.

Developer — which owns and operates several retail developments in the area, including Mosaic and Union Market — has signed with on the development of 530 First Street.

The LEED-certified, mixed-use project will include 232 apartments above 50,000 square feet of retail.

The six-story building will be at the corner of First Street and Montgomery Street.

Construction will start in late 2016, with completion scheduled for 2018.

EDENS has not identified any restaurant or retail tenants yet.
