WASHINGTON 鈥� No D.C.-area company ranked in the top 25 on Fortune’s 2016 list of , but seven companies in the region made the list, tying New York for the number of companies and second only to San Francisco for representation.
McLean-based Hilton Worldwide, ranking No. 56, was among six newcomers to the publication鈥檚 鈥淏est Places鈥� list.
The list is based on a random sample of employee surveys on things like management credibility, job satisfaction and camaraderie. Two-thirds of a company’s score is based on those surveys. The other third is based on what Fortune calls a company “Culture Audit,” which includes questions about pay and benefits, hiring practices, training, recognition programs and diversity efforts.

- No. 99: Mars 鈥� McLean, Virginia
One Baltimore area company, TEKsystems in Hanover, Maryland, also made the list at No. 74.
