15 DC-area companies make the new Fortune 500 list

WASHINGTON — The new Fortune 500 list, which ranks the largest companies in the nation based on revenue, includes 15 companies in the Washington region, unchanged from last year.

Fannie Mae ranks the highest on the list, at no. 16 this year, up from no. 17 on last year’s list.

Northern Virginia has the lion’s share of the Washington region’s Fortune 500 companies (nine hail from Northern Virginia), and the list is dominated by defense contractors.

Washington’s Maryland suburbs have four Fortune 500 companies this year, and there are two headquartered in the District.

The national Fortune 500 list is led by Wal-Mart, Exxon Mobile, Apple and Berkshire Hathaway.

Here are the Washington area companies on the Future 500 list and where they rank:

No. 118: Northrop Grumman

No. 233: Computer Sciences Corp.

No. 254: Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc.

No. 406: Discovery Communications Inc.

No. 472: Host Hotels & Resorts Inc.

No. 487: Booz Allen Hamilton Holding Corp.

No. 498: NVR Inc.
