Popular 14th Street restaurant group signs on to The Wharf

WASHINGTON — Southwest D.C.’s massive mixed-use waterfront development The Wharf is still more than a year away from Phase 1 opening, but restaurants are lining up.

The latest to sign on is Social Restaurant Group, which runs Provision No. 14 and The Prospect in the 14th and U Street corridor, and Bonfire, in Dupont Circle, will open a 9,800-square-foot French-Mediterranean restaurant called La Vie.

The restaurant will also include an 1,100-square-foot waterfront terrace, and access to a 5,000-square foot rooftop terrace for private events.

Also just announced: Cordial Craft Wine, Beer & Spirits will expand from its current Union Market location to a 525-square-foot spot at The Wharf. They feature products from independent importers and boutique distributors.

And District Hardware and Bike, in Foggy Bottom, will open a second bike location at The Wharf that will include a cafe and coffee bar.

Other tenants at The Wharf announced so far:

  • Del Mar, a two-level waterfront Spanish and seafood restaurant from James Beard Award-winning chef Fabio Trabocchi.
  • Requin, a Mediterranean restaurant from chefs Mike Isabella and Jennifer Carrol.
  • Hank’s on the Water, from Hank’s Oyster Bar’s Chef Jamie Leeds.
  • Potomac Distilling Company, a rum distillery and two-story tavern.
  • Rappahannock Oyster Bar, in an historic oyster shed at the Municipal Fish Market.
  • Kirwan’s, an Irish Pub on the waterfront.
  • Cantina Marina, a bar and live music venue.
  • Taylor Gourmet.
  • Dolcezza Gelato.

And no new D.C. development worth its weight is without a CVS. The drugstore chain will open a 9,000-square-foot store in The Wharf’s Phase 1.

The $1.7 billion Phase 1 along the Southwest Waterfront is expected to open in the fall of 2017.
