Spirit Air adds four new BWI destinations

WASHINGTON — Spirit Airlines is adding new nonstop service from BWI Marshall Airport to New Orleans, Seattle, San Diego and Oakland.

The new Spirit service to New Orleans will operate year-round. Service to Seattle, San Diego and Oakland will be seasonal.

All four new flight paths start May 25.

The new flights bring Spirit Airlines’ service at BWI Marshall to 18 markets.

Spirit relocated its D.C.-area departures from Reagan National Airport to BWI Marshall in 2012 and started with two flights.

Spirit’s expanding service has helped BWI Marshall maintain its title as the D.C. region’s busiest airport. The airport has posted 16-straight monthly passenger records through October 2016.

Discount carrier Allegiant also announced new seasonal nonstop service from BWI Marshall to Destin/Fort Walton Beach, Florida, with twice weekly flights starting May 31.
