LinkedIn isn鈥檛 just a digital r茅sum茅 graveyard full of corporate buzzwords and 鈥淟et鈥檚 circle back鈥 types. This is the one social platform where聽being smart actually works in your favor.聽Over 250 million folks in the United States use LinkedIn. You probably do, too, but you鈥檙e not using it right.

Here鈥檚 something you might not have ever considered. Posts on LinkedIn are organically shown to 5%鈥10% of your audience, which is way higher than Instagram or Facebook, where it鈥檚 around 2%. LinkedIn boosts it even more when people actually like, comment or share your post.

You don鈥檛 need to be famous. You just need to show up, speak up and share something useful. Let me help.

LinkedIn has incredible reach

Meta鈥檚 algorithm may be allergic to your unpaid thoughts, but LinkedIn is still down to help a creator out. Which brings us to鈥

You may have noticed that when you drop a link in your post, it flops. When you add an external link (like to your website, podcast or article), it sends people off LinkedIn, and the algorithm punishes you for that.

Pro tip:聽Post your content without the link and drop the link in the first comment. Some people write 鈥渓ink in comments 鈥 at the end of their post.

That one trick alone can double or triple your reach and is worth the price of this newsletter.

Drop the 鈥渞esults-oriented professional with a passion for synergy,鈥 14 hashtags and buzzwords like 鈥済rowth hacking.鈥 Nope.

You鈥檙e not submitting a cover letter, you鈥檙e starting a conversation. Be clear about what you do, who you help and how people can work with you.

Your headline matters more than your job title. 鈥淎ccount Manager at X鈥 is fine, but 鈥淗elping nonprofits grow donations through better email strategy鈥 is so much better.

Pro tip:聽Post two to three times a week. I鈥檝e seen studies that say Tuesday, Thursday and Friday are best. Share short lessons learned, questions you鈥檙e mulling over and takes on industry news. Don鈥檛 overthink it. Comment on posts in your niche.

LinkedIn rewards engagement. It鈥檚 not just what you post, it鈥檚 how you show up. So log in. Tidy up. And start posting like your ex is watching, but so is a recruiter with a signing bonus.

Speaking of careers聽鈥 After a long and distinguished career, my French teacher finally retired. Adios, amigo.
