WASHINGTON 鈥� It鈥檚 not flashy sports cars that snag the most tickets, a new survey finds, but rather 鈥� a Lexus sedan.
According to , the Lexus ES 300 takes the prize for 鈥渕ost ticketed car.鈥澛燭he website 鈥� which allows users to compare insurance quotes 鈥� looked at claim and traffic violation data from 331 models and more than 323,000 recent customers.
The survey focuses on which car makes/models received tickets between February 2014 and February 2016. Rankings were calculated on models for which more than 250 quotes were sought to ensure a significant sample size was available.
In the , the Subaru WRX was ranked the top 鈥渢icket magnet.鈥� Insurance.com says that model has dropped to No. 12 on the list.
The website states the cars with the lowest number of drivers ticketed are generally more expensive vehicles, while the most frequently ticketed are a variety of economy and luxury cars.
鈥淚t鈥檚 the driver that gets tickets, not the car,鈥� says Penny Gusner, consumer analyst for Insurance.com. 鈥淏ut it is interesting to see what vehicle makes and models attract drivers who are prone to traffic violations.鈥�
