WASHINGTON — National Sandwich Day is your chance to get a free meal.

Nov. 3 is National Sandwich Day, and many sandwich shops and chains are participating with free items and donations.

According to , the holiday was created to celebrate John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who created the easy, go-to meal in 1792.
