D.C. releases pay records for municipal employees

WASHINGTON — The boss’ paycheck isn’t always the biggest.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser doesn’t exactly have to overturn couch cushions for loose change, but at $200,000, her salary isn’t close to the highest on District government’s employee list, released Tuesday.

Of course, she did get a handsome raise from her salary as the Ward 4 council member.

Just the same, City Administrator Rashad Young ($295,000), Schools Chancellor Kaya Henderson ($275,000) and Police Chief Cathy Lanier ($230,743) may feel pressure to pick up the dinner tab.

runs 773 pages, covering everything from school teachers and firefighters to parking enforcement officers and boiler plant workers.

Former Ward 6 Councilmember Tommy Wells also saw a pay raise of more than 25 percent in the new administration, leaving his seat to become head of the District Department of the Environment.
