Silent vigil honors D.C. reporter killed in shooting

WASHINGTON — A vigil was held Wednesday night in Southeast Washington to honor Charnice Milton, who was killed in a shooting last week.

Friends, family and community members attended the silent vigil on Alabama Avenue in Southeast, .

Milton, 27, while walking along Good Hope Road in Southeast on May 27. Police said she wasn’t the intended target.

Milton worked for Capital Community ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ for over three years.

“Every night, we came home and that little girl had that light on and she would type up story after story after story,” her father, Kenneth McClenton, told NBC Washington on Wednesday. “She never gave up, she never gave in.”

Police are investigating the shooting.
