Woman, 106, visits White House, breaks into dance (Video)

WASHINGTON 鈥斅燘reaking out into spontaneous dance isn’t usually done during a meeting with聽the president of the United States, but then when you鈥檙e 106 years old you can probably do whatever you want.

The White House on Sunday posted the video of 106-year-old Virginia McLaurin鈥檚 visit, during which she cut a rug so infectiously that she was joined by the much-younger first lady Michelle Obama 鈥 rather skillfully 鈥 and President Barack Obama 鈥 somewhat less so, it must be said.

McLaurin said she was at the White House to celebrate Black History Month, not bothering to mention that at 106 she鈥檚 a bit聽of black history herself.

鈥淚 thought I would never live to get in the White House,鈥 she said. 鈥淎nd I tell you, I am so happy 鈥 a black president. Yay!鈥

McLaurin, born in South Carolina, will turn 107 on March 12, has lived in Washington for 75 years, reports, and says she can do her own cleaning and cooking.

In a recent video, she explained that she declined her son鈥檚 offer of help in the wake of the recent snowstorm: 鈥淚 told him he could wait on me when I can鈥檛 wait on myself. But as it is now, I can take care of myself. And I hope I will be like that until I die.鈥

She added, 鈥淚 pray every day of my life 鈥 to keep my memories, my mind.鈥 And she seems to do a pretty good job of it.

She recalls events that happened before she was old enough to go to school, such as the painful consequences of calling her older sister 鈥 well, we can鈥檛 say it here 鈥 after the older sister jumped over a water trench that McLaurin couldn鈥檛 manage. Unsurprisingly, the defense 鈥淯ncle Dan [says] it鈥 didn鈥檛 help.

By the way, according to the video, McLaurin鈥檚 sister is still alive: 鈥淪he鈥檚 about 108.鈥
