WASHINGTON 鈥� Union Station was briefly evacuated during the Wednesday evening rush hour for a suspicious package investigation.
The package was found around 5:30 p.m. in the Amtrak portion of the station. The station reopened around 6 p.m.
An Amtrak worker called the incident a “false alarm,” Reuters reported.
Metro transit police say normal operations resumed after the investigation.

Police have not released any additional details about the contents or nature of the suspicious package.
