Secret Service bike patrol officer seriously injured after being struck by vehicle

WASHINGTON — A Secret Service bike patrol officer was seriously injured Thursday morning after he was struck by a vehicle near the White House.

The officer was struck around 9 a.m. on 17th Street and New York Avenue in Northwest D.C. The office was taken to the hospital where his condition was characterized as serious, a D.C. police spokeswoman told ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½.

Earlier Thursday, parts of 17th Street between Constitution Avenue and F Street were closed for the investigation but have since reopened.
