WASHINGTON — D.C. police are investigating two deadly shootings in Southeast D.C. on Sunday.
The first shooting happened just before 1 p.m. at the corner of 7th and L streets Southeast, about a block north of Navy Yard. A man and a woman were shot, but the man, later identified as 27-year-old Anthony Young of Southeast D.C., did not survive.
Interim Police Chief Peter ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ham said the incident did not appear random. “It appears the victim and the suspect did know each other,” he said.
The shooting was close to where a 16-year-old girl was gunned down a few days earlier. ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ham said that shooting had no apparent connection to the latest case.
A second fatal shooting was reported in Southeast D.C. on Sunday, a couple of hours after the first incident.
Police said a man was shot to death at around 4 p.m. near the corner of Howard Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.
Police have not released the name of this victim and are still looking for suspects in both cases.
