WASHINGTON — Police are looking for the man who stabbed two people early Saturday morning in Northwest D.C.

Police said it started with a verbal argument between a man and a woman on 17th Street and U Street just after 2 a.m.

Two men who overheard that argument crossed the street to see what was happening; the man arguing with the woman began to argue with them, pulled out a knife and stabbed them both.

One victim is in critical condition, the second is expected to be released from the hospital Saturday evening.

Police say the attacker was last seen fleeing south on 17th Street. D.C. police describe the suspect as a black male with a dark complexion and full beard. He is 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a denim vest.

Anyone with information should call police at 202-727-9099.
