WASHINGTON — A teen carjacking suspect was arrested overnight Thursday in Southeast D.C. after striking a police cruiser in an attempt to escape authorities, police said.

It was the first of two armed carjackings that happened overnight in the District.

The teen flashed a handgun and carjacked a black Honda Accord on N Street in Northwest around 10:30 p.m., D.C. police said.

Around midnight, he was arrested near the intersection of Savannah Street and 22nd Street in Southeast after ramming into a police cruiser while trying to drive away, police said.

There were no injuries. The teen was charged with armed carjacking.

The second armed carjacking happened near L and First Streets in Southeast just after midnight.

D.C. police have a lookout out for a 2018 Black Lincoln Continental with Maine tags.
