WASHINGTON — A man was injured Friday morning after his car went off the road on Rock Creek Parkway down an embankment and into Rock Creek.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. in the southbound lanes on Rock Creek Parkway near P Street Northwest, said Vito Maggiolo, a D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman.
D.C. Fire and EMS set up a rope hauling system to get the man out of the embankment. The man was taken to the hospital as a precaution but he is expected to survive.
No one else was injured.
Rock Creek Parkway was closed in both directions near P Street since the incident. As of 11:30 a.m., northbound lanes are being diverted to Virginia Avenue Northwest and southbound lanes have been reopened.
