WASHINGTON 鈥� Firefighters Thursday morning continue to work to put out a warehouse fire in D.C.’s Takoma neighborhood.
The fire, which caused the roof of the warehouse to partially collapse, started Wednesday afternoon. Its location caused Metro to聽suspend rail service in the area Wednesday.
Metro says the Red Line will operate Thursday but there will be reduced speeds between Takoma and Fort Totten.
MARC Train that Brunswick Line trains will likely experience 10 to 15 minute delays between Silver Spring and D.C., as one of two track is out of service and the open track is limited to 15 mph for one mile in the area of the fire.
As day breaks in DC, the 2nd alarm fire at Chillum Place NW continues to be extinguished. For the last 13 hours have worked diligently on containment. continues to use master streams to contain the fire. No additional injuries to report.

The fire, which went to two alarms, broke out at a two-story warehouse in the 6500 block of Chillum Place in Northwest around 3:15 p.m.
Fire crews conducted defensive attacks on the fire, D.C. Fire聽and EMS spokesman聽Vito Maggiolo said the progress to extinguish the fire was slow on Wednesday.
“We expect this to be a long-term operation as we continue to hit the fire from outside and it continues to burn deep inside the structure,”聽Maggiolo said.
One firefighter has been transported to the hospital with minor injuries but is said to be OK, D.C Fire and EMS said. They have not released details about the nature of the firefighter’s injuries.
