1 dead, 1 wounded in pair of DC shootings

A woman was killed and a man was wounded in a pair of shootings in D.C. Wednesday.

D.C. police said a woman was shot and killed just before noon at 13th and Congress streets in Southeast, about a half-mile south of the Entertainment and Sports Arena.

When arriving on the scene, officers found 37-year-old Tarshaqua Chappell, of Temple Hills, Maryland, with gunshot wounds.

She was taken to a hospital where would was pronounced dead.

that they’re looking for a heavyset Black man, between 17 to 18 years old with a spiked haircut.

Later on, just after 3:30 p.m., a man was shot near the Petworth Recreation Center, off Georgia Avenue in Northwest.

Police found the man and transported him to the hospital. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

A vehicle of interest — a gray Dodge Challenge — was captured near the scene.
