More than a dozen schools in DC move to virtual learning

More than a dozen schools in D.C. are moving to virtual learning on Wednesday, citing a surge in COVID-19 cases.

Earlier Wednesday, it was announced that Drew and West elementary schools will learn virtually. Later Wednesday night, D.C. Public Schools Chancellor Lewis D. Ferebee announced 14 schools would move to virtual instruction with one day of instruction left in 2021.

Tomorrow is the final day of instruction for 2021 for all DCPS students. In addition to previously announced schools, the below schools will learn virtually tomorrow, Wednesday, December 22.

The list of schools includes Barnard Elementary, Dorothy Height Elementary, Excel Academy, Eliot-Hine Middle, Hart Middle, Jefferson Middle, Ludlow-Taylor Elementary, Kimball Elementary, Kelly Miller Middle, Kramer Middle, Oyster Adams Bilingual, River Terrace EC, Watkins Elementary and Wilson HS.

Students at Beers Elementary School, Boone Elementary School, Miner Elementary School, Stuart-Hobson Middle School, and Takoma Elementary School attended classes virtually on Tuesday and will do so again on Wednesday.

Students at McKinley Tech High School, Turner Elementary School and Bard High School Early College DC will continue to learn virtually, as well, Ferebee said, due to an increased number of cases impacting operations.
