ROCKVILLE, Md. — Have you always dreamed of screening your film at the AFI Silver Theatre?
That’s the prize if you win ‘s annual film contest .
The Rockville film lab is accepting submissions until midnight Saturday night.
The festival will select two grand prize winners, one in the “color narrative” category and another in the “black-and-white narrative” category. Applicants can only submit to one.
The winning films will screen in 35mm film at the on Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.
In addition to the screening, filmmakers will have their movies printed onto polyester film stocks, effectively preserving them forever. Sponsored by Kodak, the winning package includes a 35mm film-out preservation negative, a 35mm soundtrack and a 35mm answer print.
Entry is free of charge, but submissions must meet the following criteria:
- Originate on minimum 4K resolution video, 35mm film, or Super-16mm film.
- Be provided at minimum 4K resolution.
- Be no longer than 20 minutes in length.
- Be submitted before July 22 at 11:59 PM EST.
Digital submissions are accepted via Vimeo, Dropbox, WeTransfer, Aspera, YouTube or Google Drive. Screener links should be emailed along with the entry form to shorts@colorlab.com.
