WASHINGTON — After major backlash, the Oscars will present all categories after all.
Variety reports the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences held a Thursday night meeting with top cinematographers, after which Academy President John Bailey and CEO Dawn Hudson promised to air every awards category during the live broadcast on Feb. 24.
On Tuesday, ABC sparked controversy when it announced it would hand out four categories during commercial breaks: Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Hair & Makeup and Best Live-Action Short. The move sparked backlash from the biggest names in Hollywood, including Alfonso Cuaron, Guillermo del Toro, Spike Lee and Martin Scorsese.
The shakeup continues
