(CNN) 鈥� Things started off warmly enough on this weekend鈥檚 episode of 鈥溾�� but then took a turn.
Cast members Kenan Thompson, Marcello Hernandez and appeared in the cold open for a heartfelt tribute to their moms ahead of Mother鈥檚 Day, but the moment was cut short when James Austin Johnson as Donald Trump showed up and sent them all packing.
He began his bit by talking about the newly elected and joking about the 69-year-old鈥檚 hometown saying, 鈥淲e have an American pope 鈥� Chicago-style. No ketchup.鈥�
鈥淲e like Pope Leo. We hope he does鈥� what we want,鈥� Johnson as Trump continued, adding, 鈥渙therwise I鈥檒l have to send JD back to do his thing.鈥� The joke was a reference to the vice president鈥檚 visit to the Vatican shortly before the last month.
He continued to discuss the pope and the Catholic Church, saying, 鈥淲e love Catholic 鈥� it鈥檚 one of the stronger Christian organizations, along with Salvation Army and, I wanna say, Chick-fil-A.鈥�
Soon, he was joined on stage by 鈥淪NL鈥� alum Cecily Strong as Jeanine Pirro, who was appointed this week. Strong frequently portrayed Pirro during her time on the show.
Strong as Pirro came out with a large black bag, which she joked was 鈥渁 cozy for my Merlot-zy,鈥� removing a bottle of red wine from the bag for good measure.
Johnson as Trump said what he liked about Pirro, observing that 鈥渟he鈥檚 a great legal mind, and she has the most important quality I look for in a lawyer: she鈥檚 on TV.鈥�
鈥淵ou鈥檙e very very tough,鈥� he later added.
鈥溾�specially on immigration,鈥� Strong as Pirro replied. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 have any reservations about sending things back. My friends know I have sent back every salad I鈥檝e ever ordered at a restaurant.鈥�
鈥淲ouldn鈥檛 know. I鈥檝e never eaten one,鈥� Johnson as Trump said.
The sketch ended with an appearance by current 鈥淪NL鈥� cast member and 鈥淲eekend Update鈥� anchor Colin Jost, who portrayed Pete Hegseth.
The episode was hosted by 鈥溾�� star Walton Goggins, with musical guest Arcade Fire.
