Police: Reported Springfield abduction attempt was false report

WASHINGTON — Fairfax County police have determined the report of an attempted abduction in the Springfield, Virginia area Friday afternoon was a false report.

Detectives made this determination after interviewing the 12-year-old who made the false report.

WASHINGTON – Fairfax County police are investigating a report of an attempted abduction in the Springfield, Virginia area.

According to police, a man approached a juvenile male in front of the main entrance to Ravensworth Elementary School around 3:15 p.m. April 24. The suspect grabbed the victim from behind and tried to lure him from the school, .

The victim resisted and was able to get away. Police say the victim did not need medical attention.

The suspect was described as a while man, 20 to 30 years old, about 6 feet tall, weighing between 225 to 250 pounds, with blonde hair. According to police, the suspect was wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt and jeans.
