When Cirque du Soleil lands in Greater Washington, it will find itself in a different part of town.
Come July, Cirque du Soleil will debut “Kurios 鈥 Cabinet of Curiosities” in Tysons Corner, on a 10-acre parcel of land owned by Lerner Enterprises near Tysons Galleria and Tysons Corner Metro, .
Cirque had been posting itself at National Harbor, becoming a top attraction at the Prince George’s County hotspot.
But the construction of the MGM National Harbor Casino forced Cirque to find new digs.
Yannick Spierkel, company manager for the 鈥淜urios鈥 show, told The Post the Tysons locale fit the bill.
鈥淭he area is booming,鈥 Spierkel said. 鈥淭he extension of the Metrorail system is certainly an attraction to the area for us.鈥
Cirque will bring 116 cast members for 38 or more performances of “Kurios 鈥 Cabinet of Curiosities.” Spierkel said the show is a historical fantasy set in an inventor’s shop in the late 19th century.
鈥淲e鈥檙e going to play with their imagination, we鈥檙e going to play with their perception,鈥 Spierkel said. 鈥淭hings that are small will become big, things that are big will become small.鈥
