When Cirque du Soleil lands in Greater Washington, it will find itself in a different part of town.
Come July, Cirque du Soleil will debut “Kurios 鈥� Cabinet of Curiosities” in Tysons Corner, on a 10-acre parcel of land owned by Lerner Enterprises near Tysons Galleria and Tysons Corner Metro, .
Cirque had been posting itself at National Harbor, becoming a top attraction at the Prince George’s County hotspot.
But the construction of the MGM National Harbor Casino forced Cirque to find new digs.
Yannick Spierkel, company manager for the 鈥淜urios鈥� show, told The Post the Tysons locale fit the bill.
鈥淭he area is booming,鈥� Spierkel said. 鈥淭he extension of the Metrorail system is certainly an attraction to the area for us.鈥�
Cirque will bring 116 cast members for 38 or more performances of “Kurios 鈥� Cabinet of Curiosities.” Spierkel said the show is a historical fantasy set in an inventor’s shop in the late 19th century.
鈥淲e鈥檙e going to play with their imagination, we鈥檙e going to play with their perception,鈥� Spierkel said. 鈥淭hings that are small will become big, things that are big will become small.鈥�
