WASHINGTON — The Franconia man is now charged with assault on law enforcement officers and will next be in court April 11.
Police say Syed Javid, 19, became involved in a barricade situation Wednesday night when officers called to his home were greeted with gunfire.
No officers were hit.
That happened around 5 p.m. Wednesday on Larkspur Drive off Franconia Road.
About 90 minutes later, Javid exited his home and refused to drop a gun and rifle he held at the time, according to police.
Javid was taken into custody after officers fired beanbags and rubber bullets at him. Javid was also bitten by a police dog.
