WASHINGTON — A man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a Fairfax County office building Wednesday afternoon.
John Francis Wood, 52, of Vienna, Virginia, fired multiple rounds at an office building located at聽8111 Gatehouse Road in Falls Church around 5 p.m., said聽Fairfax County police Chief Ed Roessler. Wood was found dead, Roessler added.
Police later added that the Wood died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The office building houses a daycare, and there are no reports of any injured children.
Police said around 7 p.m. that any threat was over.
After the shooting, officials actively combed the building to find anyone else who may have been sheltering in place.
