1 dead, 1 injured in Fairfax Co. house fire

WASHINGTON — A man is dead and another was taken to the hospital after a house fire Monday morning in Fairfax County.

Fairfax County Fire Department were called to a house in the 4100 block of Mount Echo Lane in the Fair Lakes area about 10:40 a.m. Monday. Smoke was seen coming from the single-story house when firefighters arrived, said Battalion Chief Willie Bailey, a department spokesman.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in about 10 minutes, Bailey said.

The man who died was discovered inside the house. The man who was injured was expected to survive.
