A man is dead after a crash on Interstate 95 near Lorton, Virginia, early Saturday morning.
Virginia State Police said that Javier Alejan Martinez-Andrade, 30, from Woodbridge, was not wearing his seatbelt when he was launched from his car after enduring two successive crashes.
Authorities said he died at the scene of the crash.
Police said that Martinez-Andrade was heading north on I-95 before he lost control of his car, veered off the right side of the road and struck the back of a tractor-trailer stopped on the shoulder near Lorton (Exit 163) in Fairfax County shortly before 6 a.m.
Hitting the tractor-trailer caused Martinez Andrade’s car to spin around and re-enter the interstate, where he collided with a pickup truck that was pulling a U-Haul trailer.
Neither of the other two drivers were injured during the crash, according to police.
A traffic camera operated by the Virginia Department of Transportation showed a pickup truck and a white sedan involved, the latter with severe damage to its front half.
At 11:08 a.m., the 草莓传媒 Traffic Center reported all lanes were open after a right lane was blocked due to a crash reconstruction for much of the morning.
Northbound drivers were still experiencing delays from Dale City to near the exit for Lorton.
