Tractor-trailer fire slows traffic for over 7 hours on Capital Beltway’s Outer Loop in Fairfax Co.

A tractor-trailer fire slowed down southbound traffic on the Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway near Route 50 for over seven hours Wednesday, officials said.

The incident occurred before 4:16 p.m. An hour later, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said the and the fire has been extinguished.

Nobody was hurt because of the fire, the department said.

A tow truck arrived around 5:45 p.m. to begin removal of the truck.

The ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ Traffic Center reported all lanes reopened just before 11:30 p.m.
