A 64-year-old man from McLean, Virginia, is accused of sexual assault, which he carried out during his acupuncture sessions.
Detectives with the Fairfax County Police Department obtained warrants for two counts of aggravated sexual battery against Dr. Chang Hee Kim, stemming from claims of unlawful touching of a female patient on July 14 and July 18 at the Virginia University of Integrative Medicine in Tysons.
it consulted with experts to determine that Kim鈥檚 examination was “beyond the scope of a medical examination” when he touched his patient’s genital area.
Kim turned himself in to the police on Tuesday. Officials gave him a $2,000 secured bond.
Fairfax police said Kim has been licensed to perform acupuncture in the state since 2005 and served as director of clinical operations at Virginia University of Integrative Medicine since 2015. He was also employed at other medical facilities in the region.
Before practicing in Virginia, Kim worked at an acupuncture clinic in California.
