WASHINGTON — A list of the 50 best restaurants around the globe were announced during a ceremony in London on Monday.
El Celler de Can Roca in Girona, Spain was No. 1; last year’s winner, Copenhagen’s Noma, dropped to No. 3. New York’s Eleven Madison Park came in at No. 5 and was the only U.S. restaurant in the top 10. Le Bernardin was the only other restaurant from the U.S. in the top 20, it came in at No. 18.
Lima, Peru had two restaurants in the top 15, including Central and Astrid y Gaston.
While the list expanded its global reach to include restaurants in India, Dubai, Korea, Russia and South Africa, that American restaurants lost stature.
