FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Former Frederick County Commissioners president Blaine Young faces prostitution charges in Anne Arundel County.
Online court records show that Young was charged in a criminal information Monday with four counts of prostitution stemming from an incident Feb. 18.
A county investigative report says Young responded to a police ad for an escort posted on backpage.com, called and met an undercover officer at a hotel and paid her for sex before he was arrested in a prostitution sting.
Defense attorney Peter O’Neill says Young plans to plead not guilty and mount a vigorous defense.
Frederick radio station WFMD first reported the charges late Tuesday.
The 44-year-old Republican served on the county board from 2010 to 2014. He lost the 2014 election for county executive.
, Young posted an apology on his Facebook page, which has since been taken down.
Young was a Frederick city alderman from 1997 to 2001. He chose not to seek re-election after his name appeared in the records of an escort service in the city’s “black book” scandal. Young said he had hired the women to dance at parties.
