WASHINGTON — Lawmakers on Capitol Hill are inching closer to ending the government shutdown.

The Senate passed a bill reopening federal agencies through Feb. 8 after Democrats relented and lifted their blockade against the legislation.

The House must also pass the measure in order for the federal government to reopen.

A vote is to begin shortly.
