The Instagram-worthy work hub is a nod to women鈥檚 clubs from the turn of the 20th century.
鈥淲e were very inspired to sort of resurrect that concept for modern women聽鈥斅爐he difference between women 100 years ago and women today is that women work,鈥� said Audrey Gelman, The Wing鈥檚 co-founder and CEO, who launched the concept a year and a half ago in New York鈥檚 Flatiron district.

WASHINGTON 鈥� Attention ladies and 鈥� ladies: A popular New York co-working hub and club is making its debut in D.C.
is opening its doors for the first time outside of the Big Apple on Thursday, April 12 in Georgetown. The 10,000-square-foot shared office space boasts everything from an all-female author lending library; to an art gallery featuring female artists; to a cafe, cocktail and coffee bar; and a beauty room, stocked with Chanel products.
The Instagram-worthy work hub is a nod to women鈥檚 clubs from the turn of the 20th century.
鈥淲e were very inspired to sort of resurrect that concept for modern women 鈥� the difference between women 100 years ago and women today is that women work,鈥� said Audrey Gelman, The Wing鈥檚 co-founder and CEO, who launched the concept a year and a half ago in New York鈥檚 Flatiron district.

Gelman said in addition to offering conveniences geared toward women 鈥� like showers, lockers, a lactation space and a meditation room 鈥� The Wing helps foster female-driven entrepreneurship and partnerships, not to mention friendships.
鈥淲omen are hiring each other; they鈥檙e quitting their jobs to start their own thing,鈥� Gelman said.

Plans for spaces in San Francisco, West Hollywood, Williamsburg, London, Toronto and Seattle are in the works, but Gelman said D.C. was the obvious first stop outside New York.
鈥淚t鈥檚 the center of power and so many decisions are being made and so many women are on the front lines of fighting for equality and the values that we share here and the reason why we鈥檙e doing this,鈥� she said.
