Girl with prosthetic leg melts down with joy after getting doll just like her (Video)

WASHINGTON — Getting an American Girl doll is a special moment in many girls’ lives. But when a 10-year-old girl from Cypress, Texas, received hers, it was an experience she nor her family will ever forget.

Emma Bennett sat excitedly as her younger sister handed her the doll — it had blonde hair like her. But as she continued to unwrap the package, Emma cried tears of joy — the similarity turned out to be more than just hair color. The doll had a prosthetic leg, just like her.

As the , Emma’s mother Courtney Fletcher Bennett reached out to   in New York to make modifications on the doll. The company does not charge for the modifications, which are painted by hand in different colors.

The doll came with a note that Bennett read to Emma: “After a few weeks of training to walk and run in her new prosthetic, she is ready to go home and live her life without limitations with you.â€
