WASHINGTON — In honor of Veterans Day, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Tom Brokaw told tales about World War II at the National Defense University in Southwest D.C. Tuesday.
Brokaw’s talk was part of the annual Haydn Williams World War II Memorial Legacy Lecture series sponsored by , a nonprofit organization dedicated to keeping the legacy, lessons and sacrifices of World War II alive.
His lecture included lots of light moments exploring stories from his 1998 bestseller “The Greatest Generation” — a following the stories of men and women who lived through the Great Depression and World War II.
“They learned how to work together and get things done,” Brokaw said about the generation.
