WASHINGTON 鈥� A long drive after one of her son’s lacrosse games gave Krista Woods of Ashburn, Virginia, plenty of time to think 鈥� and suffer from the smell coming from her son’s sweaty gloves, jersey and shoes.
The result: Glovestix, Woods’ invention that claims to remove most of the odor and kill the bacteria clinging to sweaty athletic gear. And Glovestix has turned into a winner. Woods won the “Next Big Thing” contest on “The TODAY Show” on NBC.
“Stink is an epidemic, and I have the cure,” Woods said Friday morning as she competed for two other finalists on the show.
First prize for “The Next Big Thing” is a chance to expose her invention nationally via the home shopping channel . Woods will get a slot at 10 a.m. Saturday in which she’ll pitch Glovestix.
