Police ID driver in hit-and-run with Loudoun Co. school bus

WASHINGTON — Police have located the driver in a hit-and-run crash involving a Loudoun County School bus Thursday morning.

The driver of a cement truck struck a Loudoun County School bus near Reservoir Road and Evergreen Mills Road in Leesburg, Virginia, around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

The cement truck driver fled the scene, and was later identified by police. Officials have not yet publicly identified the driver.

There were 54 students on the school bus at the time of the crash and two students were treated for minor injuries. All of the students were transferred to another bus that went on to the school.

The crash caused the roadway to close for about 45 minutes.

The crash remains under investigation.
