WASHINGTON — Starting July 1, bicyclists can cross the Thomas J. Hatem Bridge. But .
The bridge, which crosses over the Susquehanna River between Havre de Grace in Harford County and Perryville in Cecil County, will be accessible to bicyclists from 9 a.m. to 3.p.m. weekdays and from dawn until dusk on the weekends.
But there’s a catch: The $8 toll it costs those with two axles to cross also applies to those on two wheels.
They can pay with cash or an E-ZPass. The other consideration for those biking the bridge is that there is no designated bike lane.
cyclists push a button before they cross that lights a sign warning drivers to share the road as bikes take the left lane.
