WASHINGTON 鈥� A Takoma Park attorney has pleaded guilty to bribery charges connected to a former lawmaker from Prince George鈥檚 County.
Matthew Gorman pleaded guilty to bribing then-Prince George鈥檚 County Council member Will Campos in a scheme tied to the operations of the county鈥檚 liquor board.
According to court documents, Gorman, 43, paid Campos a $2,000 bribe in 2013 and made another payment to Campos in 2015. Both were aimed at steering liquor licenses to a county business.
By 2015, Campos had been sworn in as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates and was paid $4,000 in exchange for helping to pass legislation that would benefit particular liquor stores. In the same year, Gorman paid a $5,000 bribe to Campos to testify before Montgomery County鈥檚 liquor commissioners.聽Campos pleaded guilty to bribery charges in January.
Gorman faces a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison. He鈥檒l be sentenced Dec. 20.
