Police ID driver in fatal Montgomery Co. crash

WASHINGTON —One person is dead after an accident in Silver Spring, Maryland, Friday morning.

A little before 7 a.m., Montgomery County police said a car struck a tree on Randolph Road at Kimblewick Drive. Police say eastbound traffic is being diverted at Hammonton Place.

The driver, identified as 71-year-old Victoria Hitchins of Rockville, died on the scene.

Shortly after that, there was an another collision on Randolph Road and New Hampshire Avenue.

Southbound New Hampshire Avenue remained closed at Randolph Road until after 11 a.m.

No injuries have been reported in the second collision.

Capt. Paul Stark, spokesman for the Montgomery County Police Department, told ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ police are looking for as many as three people who may have fled that vehicle.

Police are investigating whether the two incidents are related.
