WASHINGTON 鈥� A fire at Congressional Country Club in Montgomery County, Maryland, has displaced 10 people and killed a dog.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue said the blaze began around 6:15 p.m. Saturday. No one was home at the time, but neighbors were at the scene trying to fight the fire until first responders聽arrived.
The fire occurred in a house on club grounds that had been converted into three apartments for staff members and personnel.
The department said the fire seems聽to have started near a couch in a first floor living room. Alarms were activated, and it appeared accidental, officials said.
The fire left about $200,000 in damages to the building.
Crews tried to resuscitate a dog rescued from the blaze, but it did not survive.
There were no reported injuries.
Officials are working to figure out what caused the fire.
