Body found in burned car in Montgomery Co. identified

WASHINGTON — Police have identified the body found inside a burned vehicle in Montgomery County Saturday.

The Montgomery County police said Wednesday that the body of Andrea Hawvermale, 56, was found on a property near her family’s home on Excalibur Lane, in Sandy Spring, Saturday at about 8:30 a.m.

They’ve labeled the death as suspicious; police and fire crews are conducting a joint investigation.

Hawvermale was a mother of four who was active in a group dedicated to the rights of property owners in Prince George’s County. She is listed as vice president-secretary treasurer of the Prince George’s County Property Owners Association; her husband, John, is listed as director.

Her obituary in The Washington Post described her as “a woman of strength and integrity.â€
