WASHINGTON 鈥� Montgomery County police are searching for a man who聽attempted to buy frozen yogurt with a fake $100 bill earlier this month,聽and, when questioned,聽impersonated聽a police officer.
On Feb. 11, a man attempted to pay for a frozen yogurt at the Sweet Frog located at 11520 Rockville Pike in North Bethesda聽with a $100 bill. An employee used a detector pen on the bill and found that it was fake. Upon further inspection, the employee noted some irregularities on the currency too,聽Montgomery County police said Monday.
The clerk told the suspect that the money was fake and that the police would be notified. That’s when the suspect produced what appeared to be a police badge, said聽he was a police officer and requested to take the bill back.
The clerk kept the fake currency and the suspect ran from the store, police said.
