Pedestrian dead after being struck by vehicle in Silver Spring

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in Silver Spring, Maryland, on Sunday night.

At around 7:40 p.m. a resident told a Montgomery County police officer that a man was struck on University Boulevard E at Seek Lane.

When officers got to the scene, they found Julio Vargas Valerio, 67, dead.

Police said Valerio, a Takoma Park resident, was crossing University Boulevard E when he was hit by a 2006 Subaru Outback and then a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse, both going east.

No one else was reported injured.

Police closed all lanes of University Boulevard E between Piney Branch Road and Carroll Avenue while a Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the incident.
