1 dead in Montgomery Co. crash

One person is dead following a single-vehicle crash in Montgomery County, Maryland, late Monday night.

A car struck a utility pole and caught fire at the intersection of Md. Route 190/River Road and Luvie Lane, trapping its driver just before 11 p.m. Monday, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said on Twitter.

The driver, who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, died at the scene. Their identity had not been made public as of Tuesday morning.

The ²ÝÝ®´«Ã½ Traffic Center reports River Road reopened around 2 a.m. after a closure between Travilah Road and Dalyn Drive for a crash investigation.
